MacBook Pro: The Ultimate HD portable?

Friday, March 3, 2006

HD Beat has taken a nice look at the MacBook Pro as a portable HD machine (the “ultimate,” as they call it). Ben Drawbauch sings the machines praises:

“It can decode two HD videos at once and watch them in Expose, but not without dropping a few frames…The most impressive thing is how well it plays H.264 HD encoded material, the CPU never goes over 60% and is usualy closer to 50% and scrubs perfect.”

Maybe 2006 is the “year of HD,” not 2005 as most people originally thought. Check out the rest of the post, it’s definitely a good read.

A sign of things to come?

Tuesday, February 28, 2006

A slew of pictures of the PSP 3.0 firmware have apparently been uncovered, and it looks like the PSP will be getting some very cool add-ons in the near future. Of course, none of this can be confirmed confirmed however they do appear to be legit. At least it seems that way for now…

Banner Update & Other News

Monday, February 27, 2006

I know that I’ve been slow in placing a banner image on the site and I’m getting tired of seeing a big blank space at the top of every page. I’m in the process of creating banners for the entire site and I have plans to come up with different banners for each page, making it easy to figure out exactly where you are on my site.

For now, I’ve uploaded a very simple image as a placeholder until I finish the permanent banners. Hopefully it will look a little less bland on here now.

EDIT: I also wanted to let everyone know that I just completed a major update to the Links Page. I’ve added numerous links to the fishing & gaming sections. Enjoy!

The PSP Report Card

Friday, February 24, 2006

The release of the PlayStation Portable one year ago was one of the most important events in the history of videogames. After all, no one had ever seriously stood up to Nintendo’s Game Boy monopoly, and Sony is the company that had come out of virtually nowhere to knock Nintendo from its perch atop the console world ten years ago.

Twelve months have passed since that day in March 2005, so it’s only fitting that we look back over them and answer the big question: Is the PSP everything everyone wanted it to be? For a piece of electronics with so many potential uses (some of them being of the homebrew variety), that’s a pretty tough question to answer, but here it goes…

Project Prowler: Custom Hatch

Thursday, February 23, 2006

The Prowler comes set up for a 6″ hatch. I was told by a friend that he was able to put an 8″ hatch in there. That same friend then sent me a link where Johnny Ceviche put the 8″ hatch in. So yesterday, I took advantage of the 50 degree temperature we had outside and outfitted my own Prowler with one.

Part of the outfitting was to put an 8″ hatch in. It fits perfectly and I highly reccomend it. This hatch is only an inch smaller then the one in the Cobras. It has a bag and will allow the setup of an internal pulley system. In addition, it gives great access and it’ll be easy to put a different rudder system in rather than the Ocean Kayak one which is cheap but expensive to buy. The Feathercraft that Emotion uses will work perfectly and is much nicer.
